AEROSMITH Drummer: 'We Can't Wait To Get Back Into The Studio'
January 5, 2009Drummer Joey Kramer of legendary Boston hard rockers AEROSMITH has issued the following update:
"Today is the first day Tom [Hamilton; bass] and I are getting back together. We just rehearsed for two hours and it feels so good! We can't wait to get back into the studio and get back out on the road to do what we do best. We'll check in from time to time and give you progress on how things are going."
AEROSMITH is currently working on material for its 15th studio album — the band's first new collection of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play". The group will play its first-ever show in Caracas, Venezuela on February 1 as part of the three-day Solid Fest. Also scheduled to appear are 50 CENT and SIMPLE PLAN, among others.
AEROSMITH guitarist Brad Whitford told LiveDaily on October 19, 2008 that the band will likely hit the road in the U.S. in the spring, although he wasn't sure whether they would have new music to play while they're out there. Speaking after his appearance at a Connecticut stop of the Experience Hendrix tour, Whitford said, "We've been offered to go out and do a tour next year starting in March, I guess. Providing the sky doesn't fall, that's what we'll be doing." As for whether a new album will be finished in time for the trek, Whitford admitted, "Typical AEROSMITH: everybody's off in their own little world and I'm not sure we're going to get it done before we go out, which is unfortunate, because it would be nice to have some new music to play."
